# chatctx

> chatctx serves concise, owner-reviewed engineering guidance to coding agents over the Model Context Protocol. Read-only retrieval, source provenance, explicit no-match. No generative model runs in the retrieval path.

chatctx is a hosted MCP server. An agent describes the implementation decision it is making and
receives a small set of approved records: a recommendation, rationale, applicability,
conditions, exceptions, pitfalls, verification checks, and source links. Records are reviewed by a
human owner before publication. Similarity scores are retrieval signals, not proof that guidance
applies.

- Auth: `Authorization: Bearer kb_live_...`, or anonymous guest access with a daily per-IP quota

## Guarantees

- Only reviewed, approved records are served.
- Every result carries sources, evidence relation, and record timestamps.
- Raw queries are not logged; analytics keep a salted hash and bounded metadata.
- Feedback stores no API key, IP address, user agent, or client identifier.
- Weak matches return an explicit `no_match` with suggestions instead of invented guidance.
